Paste text without formatting

I have a common routine for stripping text formatting before pasting the text into a document:

  1. Copy some formatted text to the clipboard using Command-C
  2. Paste that text into a plain text editor using Command-V
  3. Copy that text to the clipboard using Command-C
  4. Finally, paste the unformatted text into the destination document using Command-V
But I just learned a cool new trick on my Mac:

  1. Copy some formatted text to the clipboard using Command-C
  2. Paste the text into the destination document using Command+Option+Shift+V
